Boosting teacher ambition through Primary Stars
Head Coach – Arron Cuttriss has been delivering our Premier League Primary Stars programme since he joined The Trust back in August. One of the school’s he has been delivering at weekly is Robert Shaw Primary School, where he has been working closely alongside Year 3 Class Teacher, Mr Fullerton. We recently visited a session and spoke to Mr Fullerton about his experience with the programme.
How have you found the programme and what have the sessions involved?
“Over the first half of the Spring term, Arron worked alongside myself to provide excellent P.E. sessions for my Year 3 class every Tuesday afternoon. The focus of these sessions was to improve teamwork skills through team building activities, which also related to heart rate and the importance of exercise for our health and fitness.”
“In the six weeks, Arron stimulated the children and challenged them to work together, take responsibility and realise the consequences of their actions when working together. The progress they have made has been very exciting to see, and I’m looking forward to seeing the positive impact of their new skills they have gained being applied in their lives.”
Since working with us – Mr Fullerton has decided he would like to develop his coaching skills even further by completing a his FA Level 1 in Coaching Football Information.
“In July, I am planning to undertake a course – FA Level 1 for Coaching Football. My ambition is that through undertaking this course, I will be able to provide a better quality of coaching for children who I teach in both P.E. and after school football clubs/matches, as well as allowing me to take up volunteering roles at local football clubs and coaching their youth teams.”
