Dante Diriso started at Nottingham Forest on our BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. Equivalent to three A-Levels, our diploma provides students with the opportunity to work towards a vocational qualification for a career in the sport industry or to study further at university. After completing his Level 3 diploma Dante decided to continue on to our Degree in Football Coaching and Development. In partnership with The University of South Wales, our two-year foundation degree offers students the opportunity to gain valuable coaching experience and qualifications. After the two-year degree, students have the option to progress their Foundation Degree into a BSc (Hons) degree.
The degree has enabled Dante to gain his FA Level 2 Award in Coaching Football, this helped lead Dante to work for the Nottingham Forest Community Trust as a coach across all of our programmes. He has been a great asset to the team so far and helped out at our Soccer Schools across the Summer.
Our education programmes can open up many different pathways in the industry for students like Dante, he said “I never thought I’d be studying for a degree, never mind working with Nottingham Forest.” Dante is looking forward to continuing his degree for a third year, to gain a BSc (Hons) in Football Coaching, Development & Administration.
The degree opens up many career opportunities for students, once they graduate they are in a strong position to develop a career in football or postgraduate education. These pathways include: Postgraduate degree (E.g. MSc), Community Manager, Professional Academy Coach, Social Inclusion Officer, Women and Girls officer at a Professional Football Club, Football Development Officer, Football in the Community Coach and a Sports Development Officer to name just a few.
