Dylan’s Confidence Boost

At Kirkby Woodhouse Primary School, there’s a Year 5 student named Dylan who’s not just a star academically, but also shines bright on the playground. He’s the kind of kid who always goes the extra mile, helping after school and even leading dodgeball sessions for the younger kids.

Since the start of the school year, Dylan’s confidence has skyrocketed, thanks to the Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) programme and his coach, Mai.

Dylan’s love for sports, especially dodgeball, has been a big part of his journey with PLPS. From being a regular participant, he’s now taken on a leadership role, guiding and encouraging his peers with newfound confidence every week. And he’s loving every minute of it!

He gives a lot of credit to Mai, the PLPS coach. According to Dylan, Mai’s teaching style is spot on – she makes everything easy to understand. And Mai thinks Dylan is a superstar student who not only listens well but also knows how to have a blast during PE sessions. “He’s a top student, he listens but also enjoys himself in PE and makes the most of the after-school club.” – Mai.

But it’s not just about sports. Dylan’s time with PLPS has also helped him become more resilient. He’s not afraid to take on challenges anymore, and he faces them with a positive attitude. Whether it’s staying late to help out or cheering on younger students, Dylan’s commitment to PLPS values is clear.

Dylan’s story shows just how powerful programmes like Premier League Primary Stars can be. With the right support and encouragement, kids like him can grow in so many ways – on the field, in the classroom, and in life. And as Dylan continues to thrive, he’s proof that sports-based education is about much more than just winning games.
