The EFL Kids and Girls Cups are national tournaments for junior footballers which offers children the once in a lifetime opportunity to play at Wembley Stadium.
Combined, the Cups involve over 20,000 children and create one of the country’s largest national football competitions, which culminate in exciting finals at Wembley Stadium in front of thousands of fans before a major national final, as schoolchildren live out their dream.
On Friday we held the EFL Girls Cup for U13’s at The Forest Sports Zone, the day was a great opportunity for Girls teams from schools all across the Midlands to compete against one another. There were 10 teams in attendance representing Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Derby County, Burton Albion, Mansfield Town, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Lincoln City, and Doncaster United.
The tournament was a great display of some amazing footballing skills and the girls showed fantastic teamwork. The day concluded with a tense final between Derby County Community Trust and Mansfield Town Football in the Community and ended with a penalty shoot out. After a day full of fantastic football it was Derby County Community Trust who were the overall winners and took home the trophy.
Well done to all of the Girls who took part for all of their hard work and sportsmanship!
