Encouraging and supporting female participation during lockdown
At Nottingham Forest we are committed to providing physical and mental support for everyone, ensuring that our community provision is both beneficial and inclusive.
Premier League Kicks is one of our free programmes supports this ethos. Using the power of football and the value of sports participation, to engage, inspire & educate young children and adults. Due to the pandemic we have had to change the way we do this, now offering exciting virtual events and activities to help boys and girls to stay healthy and have fun whilst being at home.
This has included our very own online female fitness sessions and activity challenges. Our female participation was great before the restrictions came into place and wanted to ensure we kept that connection during these times. We wanted to offer a safe place for our female participants to get active and feel comfortable, whilst taking part in a fun session that they’d enjoy with new and old friends.
Ava McCartneywho is 12 years old has been one of the girls taking part regularly in our fitness sessions saying, ”Ilike the Premier League kicks sessions as it’s helping me keep motivated whilst I’m at home a lot, it gets me into a good routine and is a great help towards my fitness goals”
Ellie Ross is another participant who has taken part in some of our fitness activity challenges and over the half-term period won herself one of our FitBit prizes for being the most active. Her mum said, “She has received the FitBiit and she loves it! Thank you so much, she worked really hard!”
