Our Forest Forces programme is designed to encourage engagement and deal with social isolation within our local community of Veterans. Throughout the duration of the programme we have built strong relationships with other charitable organisations which has led to an increase in the opportunities for more local Veteran events.

In partnership with the EFL Trust we are getting involved with the Tackling Loneliness Together programme, this programme allows us to continue supporting our elderly participants and fans across the community.

On Friday we saw the return of our Forest Forces coffee morning. Before lockdown we held events like this monthly at The City Ground, but due to the restrictions this hasn’t been possible for the last few months. Now that the guidelines have eased we were able to hold a socially distanced event for any local Veterans to attend.

The event took place at the Forest Recreational Ground on Friday, participants bought their own refreshments and it was a chance for our Forest Forces Veterans to be reunited at a safe distance. Alongside the coffee morning we also offered participants the chance to play foot golf, a great way to keep active whilst being safe and complying with social distancing guidelines.

This coffee morning fits into our Tackling Loneliness Together programme, we understand that the lockdown period has been isolating for the older generation and this type of event is a great way to encourage socialising in a safe environment.

“Thank you and your staff for a great morning, everyone had such a good time. Thanks again for your hard work!”
