George Caudwell is a 16 year-old student currently studying for his BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, here at Nottingham Forest Community Trust. This Diploma is the equivalent three A-levels and combines innovative classroom learning with practical experience lead by our FA licensed coaches. Our education programmes provide students with the opportunity to work towards a vocational career in the sporting industry, or to further their studies at University.
We spoke to George about his experience on the course so far, he said that since being on the course he has already learnt a lot, not just academically but practically. When speaking about what he has learnt from his FA licensed and Academy level coaches he said “Seeing how they coach helps me learn from them, you can see the different ways of coaching.”
Our higher education courses are designed to help further students careers and open up pathways for them in the sport industry, George said that in the future he wants to “work in an area of sport, football especially.” Alternatively, George also expressed interest in a career in personal training explaining, “Different units we study would help me develop a future in that industry.”
George said that he would really recommend studying a Higher Education Diploma with Nottingham Forest Community Trust he commented “It’s way better than going to sixth form, especially if sport is a subject you enjoy. When I was at secondary school, my favourite subject was sport.” He also added that working with “high level coaches helps to develop your football skills.” Having a practical learning aspect across all of our higher education programmes ensures students can develop in every aspect of sports coaching. Students have access to our state-of-the-art multi-sport facilities, as well as being based at the world famous City Ground for all of their academic studies.
We spoke to Danny Gordon one of our Education Tutor’s, when asked about George he said “He is an intelligent and hard-working student who always puts in 100% effort. He is a great influence on the other students, and often takes a leadership role both on and off of the pitch.”
