Our Premier League Kicks programme is designed for 8-18 year olds from all over Nottingham. The programme provides opportunities for young people by engaging them in sports, music and educational activities that can encourage personal development and socialisation with new people.
Harrison has been attending our Premier League Kicks sessions for three years now, he regularly plays in our fixtures and attends the sessions we hold in the Meadows weekly. We caught up with Harrison to find out why he keeps attending Kicks and what he likes about the sessions.
What is your favourite thing about Kicks?
“It allows me to play football with my friends from both my school and in the community.”
What do you think you have got out of Kicks?
“The sessions have definitely improved my footballing ability and it has allowed me to meet new friends, who I now keep in touch with.”
Why do you keep coming back to the sessions?
“Because it’s really fun, and I like the staff who work here. The staff are nice and polite, and they are always making jokes.”
Why would you recommend Kicks to other people your age?
“It’s a place to come and enjoy football and not be pressured into doing things. I come here for a laugh with my friends. It’s also good because you get the chance to play in competitions against other teams in England, which I enjoy a lot.”
What do you gain from attending sessions?
“I have made a lot of friends from the sessions and if I wasn’t there I would probably just be sat at home playing FIFA.”
What do you think about the coaches?
“I like them, because they always have a laugh with us here. They make time and effort to support us and make sure we are improving.”
We spoke to our coaches Dante and Alex about Harrison’s progression with our Kicks programme.
“Since he has been attending our sessions we have seen Harrison’s confidence grow as well as his footballing ability, he is always keen to get involved.” – Alex Toplis, Community Coach
“Harrison is a great character to be around and is liked by all participants, since being involved with us he has attended a lot of sessions and multiple competitions. To develop himself even further he is now enrolling in our BTEC programme, and will start his studies in September.”  – Dante Diriso, Community Coach
