Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Nottingham Forest Football Club recently put three players forward from their Girls Regional Talent Club programme to trial for the international side.
The Nottingham Forest Girls Regional Talent Club (RTC) is an enhanced football programme for U10-U16 female players. It allows those identified as having elite potential the opportunity to access appropriate levels of coaching and support and as the programme is the ‘FA Girls England Talent Pathway’ it gives players the scope to progress into the international side.
All three girls did exceptionally well and received great feedback from the coaches, with one individual being invited to progress further. Esmie, who joined the RTC in October 2016 after playing for a number of local teams, really made an impression at the trials and has now been offered a place at the elite training group for England. This group is on the cusp of the international side where Esmie will continue to develop her footballing abilities and hopefully succeed in taking that final step forward. RTC coach, Sarah Richardson who has known Esmie since a very early age wasn’t surprised at how well she did, saying,”I first met Es when she came to her local infant school where I delivered the after school clubs and holiday camp. She regularly attended all of them and immediately I knew that there was something special about her”.
Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Nottingham Forest Football Club are determined to support and grow women’s football. Our Girls Regional Talent Club will continue to help young players develop their skills and give them opportunities like we have provided Esmie.
