Once a month Nottingham Forest Community Trust would usually provide and event for our local veterans as part of our Forest Forces programme.
Forest Forces is a programme designed to tackle social isolation and engagement with veterans in our local communities. We provide a range of monthly activities such as coffee mornings, comedy nights, day trips and so much more. We also have relationships with other charitable organisations across the region and have held events whereby veterans across the east midlands can get together.
Since we are unable to provide these events due to ‘lockdown’ circumstances we have been doing whatever we can to try and engage and support our veterans during these difficult times. From weekly catch ups, to home deliveries and online virtual quiz’s, we think it’s vital to help those that need it the most.
We have had some lovely feedback from our veterans off the back of this including one from Linda who said, “I just wanted to say a massive thank you. It really lifted and made such a difference to me.”
"Just seeing a friendly face and a chat in these difficult times was lovely. It’s given me such a lift today after a very hard week and it was such a lovely thing to do."#Veteran RAF Nurse, Maggie Cassidy pic.twitter.com/CgXW69iOTS
