Premier League Kicks is a free programme that gives 8-18 year olds across Nottinghamshire the opportunity to play football and other multi-sport activities. The sessions we run aim to engage, inspire and educate young people using sport. The programme aims to increase the sports participation of hard-to-reach youngsters in some of the most-high need areas of Nottinghamshire.
Yesterday we held a 5-aside tournament at The Forest Sports Zone as part of our Premier League Kicks programme. The event was open to all 14-16 year olds in the Nottingham area and allowed them to pick their own teams.
The day was designed for the participants to organise their own teams and it was a great way for them to socialise with other people their age that they otherwise wouldn’t interact with.
There was plenty of healthy competition in play as the teams took it in-turn to play each other, but in the end it was Meadows Youth Club who took the win.
Premier League Projects Manager – Declan Barker said “Yesterday was a fantastic opportunity to get young people from different parts of the city together to take part in a Kicks tournament. The tournament had over 40 male and females take part in the event which was pleasing to see. During the day participants also got the chance to find out more about the post 16 education courses that NFCT offer!”
Well done to everyone involved it was a great day! To find out more about our Premier League Kicks programme click here.
