The Forest Sports Zone provides the perfect setting for The Premier League 22/23 Season Launch!
With the first games of the 2022/23 Premier League season only days away, Nottingham Forest FC is preparing for their long-awaited return to the top flight with an away trip to St James’ Park, the home of Newcastle United.
Closer to home however, the Premier League were in town as they held their official 22/23 season launch at The Forest Sports Zone, a Community Football facility in the Forest Fields area of the city which is ran and managed by Nottingham Forest Community Trust.
Each year, the Premier League invites international media, a host of fans and celebrities to join them in kicking off the season by giving them the opportunity to interview first team players, the manager and other key club individuals about their thoughts ahead of the new season.
This week’s event saw Steve Cooper, Brennan Johnson, Neco Williams, Joe Worrall and goalkeeper Dean Henderson join the spectacle alongside familiar Reds faces, England Cricketer Stuart Broad and ex-Forest players Michael Dawson and Stuart Pearce.
A select number of Forest fans were invited to the event, including Community Trust participants, YouTubers, long-term season ticket holders and younger fans – too young to remember the last time the club graced the top tier of English football.
Fans were able to take part in Q&As with the special guests including Club Chairman, Nicholas Randall QC and first team players, Neco Williams and Brennan Johnson.
Also taking part, coaches from Nottingham Forest Community Trust ran a PL Kicks session with participants which included five-a-side games and Kicks Skills sessions. The participants also had the opportunity to get their boots and shirts signed by the first team players.
Speaking about the event, Craig Farina, season card holder for 35 years said, “Being given this opportunity to come down and see behind the scenes has been incredible. Listening to what the Chairman had to say ahead of the first game was really insightful and it is clear that a lot of work has gone into the Club.”
“As a season card holder for many years, I’ve seen the ups and of course the downs but this event has got me, and the other fans here pumped for this weekend’s opening game and of course the whole season.”
Graham Moran, BEM, Nottingham Forest CEO said, “It is absolutely fantastic to welcome the Premier League to our community facility today. This is an incredible event not only for the Club and Trust but also for Nottingham. We have a City we should all be proud of and when the Premier League come to here, we want to show them what Nottingham is all about.”
Graham added, “We’re all very excited ahead of the new season and events like this can really showcase the impact the Premier League can have through its significant investment within communities in Nottingham and across the UK. Since promotion, there has been a buzz about the place, especially at our sessions including soccer schools and our holiday activity and food programme – it’s clear the young fans are very excited.”
Nottingham Forest Community Trust wants to wish all players and staff at Nottingham Forest FC the best of luck ahead of the new season.
Come on you Reds!
