On Monday, we invited local school children from around the Nottingham area to The City Ground to attend our Author Day. The day was a great way for pupils from different primary schools to come together and learn whilst having fun!

The day started off with a very exciting scavenger hunt around the Executive Boxes here at the ground. The children had to decipher anagrams relating to former Nottingham Forest legends as clues, the kids all really enjoyed this task as it combined learning with a fun activity. The children then took part in a Reading Stars lesson with our Head Coach Lloyd.

Next, the children were played footage from the 1979 European Cup Final where Nottingham Forest defeated Malmö Fotbollförening, and were tasked with writing a creative match report based on the game. There were some amazing literacy skills shown in this task and all of the pieces of work were incredibly creative!

To end the day the children were visited by a very special guest, poet Paul Cookson. They started off with writing a group poem which was great as it got everyone involved. He then talked to the children and ensured to include them in lots interactive games based on poetry. Finally, the children all received a signed copy of his poetry book.

There were some amazing prizes for some lucky pupils at the end of the day. Everyone did fantastic however, there were some lucky winners who stood out for their excellent work and teamworking skills, prizes included NFFC football shirts, certificates and even some incredible kindles!

Thank you to all of the pupils and teachers who attended, we loved having you here at The City Ground.
