Forest Futures
About Forest Futures
At Nottingham Forest Community Trust, we are proud to introduce the Forest Futures Programme, an innovative initiative aimed at transforming the lives of young individuals between the ages of 14 and 25. This unique programme is funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund (PLCF), the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), and the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Violence Reduction Partnership (NNVRP).
Forest Futures is dedicated to empowering youth and young adults through a carefully designed combination of football and mentoring. By leveraging the universal appeal of football, we aim to engage participants in activities that not only enhance their physical fitness but also promote personal development and social skills.
Our Goals
The primary goal of Forest Futures is to reduce the risk factors associated with violent crime among youth. We achieve this by:
- Providing a Safe Environment: Offering a secure space where young people can engage in constructive activities under the guidance of skilled mentors.
- Developing Skills: Through football training and competitive play, participants develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
- Mentoring: Experienced mentors provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling, helping participants navigate challenges both on and off the pitch.
- Building Community Connections: Encouraging interactions within the community to develop a sense of belonging and mutual respect.
Programme Structure
The Forest Futures programme operates on a weekly basis and includes:
- Football Training: Professional-level coaching and practice sessions that cater to all skill levels.
- Mentorship Sessions: One-on-one and group sessions focusing on personal development, goal setting, and strategies to handle life’s challenges.
- Workshops and Seminars: Educational sessions that cover various topics, including conflict resolution, effective communication, and more.
