Tricky to Talk
Tricky to Talk is Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s mental health and wellbeing programme.
Using peer support hubs and awareness raising training, this programme aims to support the promotion of positive mental health. Tricky Hubs are a relaxed, informal space, where you can talk to others who may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health and to be able to share your experiences. The Hubs provide the opportunity to open up in a confidential and supportive environment to share and discuss your own thoughts and feelings.
TRICKY HUBS: CONNECTING PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE
The Tricky Hubs are open to individuals from all backgrounds and will run on a weekly basis. These sessions provide a comfortable environment where participants can openly discuss their mental health. Whether you prefer the convenience of online sessions or the personal interaction of face-to-face meetings, the Tricky Hubs have got you covered.
Join us every Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and embark on a journey towards better mental health.

BUB HUBS WITH BOTTLED UP BLOKES: FOSTERING MALE MENTAL HEALTH
To acknowledge the importance of addressing the mental health concerns of men, we’ve partnered up with Bottled Up Blokes to deliver BUB Hubs. These are open to men aged 18 and above and will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the John Godber Centre in Hucknall and are available on a walk-in basis, no booking required. By creating a comfortable and understanding environment, these sessions encourage open dialogue about mental health, helping participants feel supported on their individual paths to wellbeing.

SANDS UNITED: SUPPORTING BEREAVED FAMILIES
Sands United is a unique way for bereaved men to come together through a shared love of sport, find a community, and feel at ease talking about their grief when they’re ready.
We know that it can be a struggle to talk about how you’re feeling after the death of a baby. We hope that by building trust and a common bond, by playing together as a team, many more will be able to break the silence about baby loss and help others to do the same.
The Sands United FC community is run by volunteers. Sands United teams are safe spaces for men of all abilities and football skill to join with others and find community in this special place we call Sands United.

TOUGH TO TALK: DEDICATED TO REDUCING MALE SUICIDE
TOUGH TO TALK is a pioneering charity dedicated to breaking the silence around male suicide and promoting mental health awareness. Founded on the principle that every man should have access to support when he needs it most, they are committed to changing lives and making a difference.
They help organisations who want to support their men, tackle the real issues they are facing using positive action, designed specifically with men in mind delivered in a way that men can access and engage with.

HARRY TOFFOLO: MENTAL HEALTH AMBASSADOR
In 2024, Nottingham Forest Football Club and Nottingham Forest Community Trust announced defender Harry Toffolo as ambassador for the Tricky to Talk programme.
Since then, Harry has been instrumental in raising awareness and showing support to our Tricky to Talk programme and other partners, such as Bottled Up Blokes.

All of these mental health hubs operate on a peer support model, emphasising the importance of connection and understanding. The sessions are informal, providing a relaxed and non-judgmental atmosphere where individuals can freely express their thoughts, concerns, and triumphs regarding mental health. By creating a sense of community and solidarity, these hubs encourage positive mental health practices and empower participants to take charge of their wellbeing.
Nottingham Forest Community Trust is committed to supporting the community in its pursuit of positive mental health. Together, we can create a safe and supportive environment where conversations about mental health are encouraged, and individuals can find solace in the power of shared experiences. Join us as we prioritise mental wellbeing and strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of those around us.
