Last week, we had a fantastic day at Leas Park Junior School where we joined our Head Coach James, who was delivering our flagship Premier League Primary Stars programme. It was ‘Sports Challenge Day’ an initiative designed by the pupils at the school to increase physical activity and encourage students to work together!

The idea came thanks to the Leas Park school council, who off the back of the success of their mile run club, felt it was important to include physical activity at school! After sitting down together with Mrs hall (Head of School) and our Primary Stars Head Coach James they came up with the ‘Sports Challenge Day’, an idea to get everybody active and work towards a target. They decided to split the day across every year group and working in small teams they got to work on each different activity. There were six different stations; football, basketball, javelin, cricket, hockey and rugby focusing on some of the key aspects of the games. Head Coach James said “It was fantastic to see the whole school work to their maximum throughout the day and for the school council to recognise the importance of exercise and physical activity and getting everyone working together made me feel proud to play a small part in their day”.

As well as taking part in the activities members of the school council supported James in officiating and collecting scores for each station and also helped explain each session to their fellow pupils. A huge congratulations to the whole school for all their efforts!
