Nottingham Forest Community Trust work with a number of schools every week to deliver Premier League Girls sessions that provide opportunities for females aged 11 and over to take part in the sport. The objective behind this flagship programme is to increase the number of girls playing football on a regular basis whilst simultaneously giving them the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence and progress within the pathway as a player, coach or official.

Toot Hill School is a part of this initiative and seen some incredible success since the start of the programme. Their year 7 girls football team has more players wanting to join than ever before and amazingly this year they have managed to reach the Nottinghamshire County Cup Final as well as progressing into the Quarter Finals of the National Schools FA Cup! When we asked teacher and coach, Miss Hall about the girls success she expressed her gratitude towards our Premier League Girls coach, Dante, who runs the sessions for them, explains that “Dante builds strong relationships with the girls through engaging sessions that develop techniques and interest the girls. He always has clearly planned sessions with a theme beforehand but is willing to adapt them as needed. Dante is firm in his approach to ensure sessions run effectively. He is always punctual and well organised and speaks and behaves in an appropriate way for delivering to girls. Overall we have been really impressed with the session Dante has provided at Toot Hill.”

Not only has there been internal success for the school but three of the girls that participate in the programme have since progressed into our Girls Regional Talent Club which gives female players identified as having elite potential the opportunity to access appropriate levels of coaching and support. It is the ‘FA Girls’ England talent pathway, helping female football players to reach the international stage.

We are proud to be supporting and influencing female participation in sport and we will continue to do so with future programmes. If you would like to find out more about Premier League Girls simply click here.
