Trust announces PLPS Superstar

Nottingham Forest Community Trust is delighted to announce Chris Ibbett as their Premier League Primary Stars Superstar as part of the programme’s 5th anniversary celebrations.

The Trust nominated Mr Ibbett as their Superstar, an award which recognises either a pupil or teacher who has been positively impacted by participation in Premier League Primary Stars in the last five years.

Mr Ibbett is the PE Lead at St Ann’s Well Academy in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham and has been given the award in recognition for his hard work and passionate approach to PE at the school. His dedication to giving pupils the opportunity to be active and experience different sports and gain a greater understand of the rules and different skills needed to enjoy them is second to none.

Alongside this, he also sees the importance that sport/PE can have on pupils’ social and mental wellbeing and makes sure this is encompassed into delivery across the school from teachers to outside providers.

St Ann’s Well Academy have been a partner school with the Trust since the launch of the PLPS programme in 2017 and since that time have seen the benefit of having a PLPS coach in school for a full day and the relationship that can be built with the school, coaches and pupils.

Over the last 5 years Chris has been engaged throughout the PLPS programme and has taken part in man FA Primary Teachers Award, events and competitions across the city, and even player visits to the school.

Chris and the PLPS Head Coach, have spent time developing a brand-new school curriculum and provision map that is linked to the new Ofsted PE framework, Chris has leaned on the coach’s expertise to build and shape the schools PE curriculum. By doing this he believes that the PE delivery from teachers that are being supported, and other outside providers will improve the quality and delivery.

Speaking of the nomination, Chris said, “I am so thrilled to be recognised for the work we have been doing in PE lessons and am very grateful for this award. Everything we do is a commitment to developing our PE lessons at schools so all our pupils can benefit from this.”

As part of award win, all Superstars receive an exclusive Premier League Primary Stars reward which includes an exclusive artwork by graphic designer/illustrator Zem Clarke which has been especially created for e anniversary along with a Premier League football.

Premier League Primary Stars uses the power of football to inspire children to be active and develop essential life skills. Launched in 2017, the programme has supported more than 18,000 schools across England and Wales over the last five years with free curriculum-linked resources covering PE and teamwork, English and Maths; with free to download activities, worksheets, lesson plans, fun assemblies and exclusive educational videos.
