On Tuesday night Nottingham Forest took on Sheffield Wednesday away at Hillsborough Stadium. Our Walking Football team made up of local over 50’s were invited to play against Sheffield Wednesday’s team during the evenings half-time entertainment.
Some of the Veterans who attend our Forest Forces event have found our Walking Football sessions are a great way to socialise whilst getting in some additional exercise. Sam Mitchell one of our Veteran participants said “I would absolutely recommend it to others, have bought two of my friends along from my old Army unit because it’s so good. Football is a massive part of the Armed Forces, and it would be great to get a Veteran’s team together.”
Our team who have been training for around sixth months now play every Wednesday at The Forest Sports Zone, our facility based at The Forest Recreation Ground. This was a fantastic opportunity for our team and all of the players were very excited!
After a fantastic experience on the pitch the score between the two Walking Football teams was 1-1, although the match ended in a disappointing loss for Nottingham Forest Football Club it was still an amazing experience for our Walking Football participants.
Our sessions are open to all over 50’s in the local community regardless of skill or experience, to find out more click here.
