Kick-Off Conversations: New Football For Mental Health Programme
Nottingham Forest Community Trust is proud to announce the launch of Kick-Off Conversations, a new programme bringing local armed forces veterans and the wider community together to improve mental health through social football. Thanks to funding from the Veteran’s Foundation, Your Health Notts, and the National Lottery Fund, these sessions are completely free to attend.
The programme runs every Tuesday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Calverton Miners Welfare (NG14 6NR), offering veterans and community members the chance to enjoy a friendly kickabout, connect with others, and take part in meaningful conversations. Kick-Off Conversations is designed to create a safe and supportive environment where participants can enjoy physical activity, share experiences, and build friendships.
Supporting Mental Health Through Football
Regular social activity is known to play a key role in improving mental wellbeing. By combining football with open conversations, the programme aims to reduce isolation, support positive mental health, and provide participants with an opportunity to develop a sense of belonging within their community. Whether you are a veteran looking to meet others with similar experiences, or someone from the local community keen to get involved, every session offers a welcoming space to connect and engage.
A Commitment to Veterans
Nottingham Forest Community Trust has a long-standing commitment to supporting local armed forces veterans. Through tailored programmes and partnerships, the Trust works to ensure veterans have access to social, physical, and emotional support networks. Kick-Off Conversations builds on this work, recognising the unique challenges veterans may face and providing a platform where participants can share stories, support each other, and enjoy the camaraderie of football.
