Forest Forces Spreads Festive Cheer at The City Ground

The Trentside Lounge at The City Ground recently played host to the Forest Forces Christmas Celebration, a heartwarming event bringing together over 60 local veterans and key partners to celebrate the achievements of the year and look ahead to 2026.

Adding a magical touch to the afternoon was Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir, who performed a selection of festive songs. The choir also debuted their brand-new single, ‘Brighter than the Night’. The single has been professionally produced by BRIT-winner Nick Patrick and mastered at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in partnership with The Spud Bros.

The celebration was a pivotal opportunity for the Forest Forces programme to strengthen community ties. Attendees included representatives and contacts from a wide range of organisations dedicated to supporting veterans and the wider community:

  • – Army Benevolent Fund
  • – RAF Benevolent Fund
  • – NHS Mental Health Service for Veterans
  • – Nottinghamshire County Council Deputy Cabinet For Adult Social Care, Cllr Kelvin Wright.
  • – Army Community Engagement Teams
  • – Ashfield District Council
  • – West Notts College (who provided a morning activity)

The event served as a platform for the Nottingham Forest Community Trust to share their successes and outline their ambitious plans for the future of the Forest Forces programme.

Colin Eley, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said:

“Our purpose here is to invite people and partners to hear what we have achieved this year, while also looking ahead to 2026. The hope is that the partners in the room will support us to achieve our aims and grow our Forest Forces programme in partnership.

We want to continue to improve the delivery of our programme, ensuring it meets the unique needs of our veterans and their families.”

The Trust would also like to extend a huge thank you to The Veteran’s Foundation for their dedicated support, as they have generously funded the Forest Forces programme throughout 2025, making its continued success possible.
