Welcoming Ferencváros to the Forest Sports Zone
Üdvözöljük magyar barátainkat!
Ahead of tomorrow’s highly anticipated UEFA Europa League tie against Ferencváros at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest Community Trust is proud to host a special international fixture of our own.
Tomorrow morning, the Forest Sports Zone will transform into a hub of international camaraderie as we welcome Ferencváros Walking Football for a series of friendly matches against our Nottingham Forest Walking Football team.
This fixture marks a significant milestone for our community. For the first time in the history of the Nottingham Forest Community Trust, our participants have been given the unique opportunity to represent the club against an international counterpart. Donning the Garibaldi to face a storied European opponent like Ferencváros is a proud moment for our walking football programme, elevating the local game to the international stage.

Fifteen players have made the 1,000-mile journey from Budapest to Nottingham, not just to support their first team in their final league phase match, but to represent the green and white of Ferencváros on the pitch.
The Hungarian side is no stranger to the international stage. Since their inception in 2020, their walking football programme has flourished, following the first team across the continent to face prestigious clubs such as Real Betis, Schalke 04, and Newcastle United. A Growing European Tradition for the organisers at Ferencváros, every European away day is an opportunity to grow the game. By arranging fixtures with their first-team opponents, they have built a network of veteran footballers across Europe, proving that the passion for the beautiful game knows no age limit.
Tom Norton, Head of Programmes at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “Hosting Ferencváros is a fantastic testament to the power of walking football in bringing people together.
Events like these highlight that the European experience isn’t just for the professionals – it’s for our community too. We are thrilled to provide a platform for international friendship and competitive spirit right here at the Forest Sports Zone.”
The visiting Hungarian Walking Football team will enjoy a morning of competitive action at our Forest Sports Zone facility before heading to the City Ground to watch their team take on The Reds.
