Nottingham Forest Community Trust Supports FvH Tournament
Nottingham Forest Community Trust was proud to support Nottingham Lions FC as they hosted their annual 5-a-side tournament at Gresham Sports Park, marking the conclusion of the Football v Homophobia (FvH) month of action.
The event saw a record-breaking 19 teams travel from across the country to participate, demonstrating the continued growth of inclusive football. As a key partner, the Trust provided on-the-ground support with staff assisting in officiating alongside the Nottinghamshire FA, ensuring the tournament was delivered to a high standard.
This year, the Trust and Nottingham Forest FC have been active supporters of the Premier League ‘With Pride’ campaign.
Introduced for the 2025/26 season, this initiative aims to embed LGBTQ+ inclusion year-round, focusing on education and creating a welcoming environment for all. By supporting local events like the Nottingham Lions tournament, the Trust continues to bring the values of the national ‘With Pride’ movement to the heart of the local community.
Tournament Overview
The competition featured a diverse range of clubs, from established GFSN (Gay Football Supporters’ Network) sides to developing grassroots teams. Notable participants included:
National Representation: London LeftFooters, Trowbridge Tigers, and Birmingham Blaze.
Corporate & Charity Partners: Three teams from tournament sponsors Boots, and Sands United FC, a charity-based team supporting bereaved fathers.
Other Clubs: Proud Baggies, Canal Street, and Chess Club FC.

The day concluded at The City Ground, where the Trust supported the official awards presentation in the 1865 Suite. Participants enjoyed a formal evening of speeches from Nottingham Lions FC members, celebrating the progress made in LGBTQ+ inclusion within the sport.
Tom Park, Community Coach at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “The tournament was phenomenal. It is always rewarding to see so many people come together to support such a positive cause. Football v Homophobia sends a powerful message: to include, accept, and be kind to one another. Events like these serve as a vital opportunity for us all to reflect on how we treat each other. A big well done to Sam and Nottingham Lions FC for organising such a successful day.”
Shaun, a tournament participant, said: “It was a great day with so many people entering into the spirit of the game in such a friendly and inclusive environment. A personal highlight was the genuine joy expressed by the Proud Baggies in winning their trophy.”
Nottingham Forest Community Trust remains committed to supporting local partners like Nottingham Lions FC to ensure football remains a safe and welcoming environment for all.
