Think Big Brings Curriculum Learning to Life at Farnborough Spencer Academy
Students at Farnborough Spencer Academy are gaining a deeper understanding of the technology sector thanks to the successful integration of the Think Big programme into the school curriculum.
Delivered in partnership with Ideagen, Think Big is helping students explore how the skills they develop in the classroom can connect to future careers in technology and innovation. By embedding workshops into different subject areas, the programme is providing meaningful and relevant learning experiences that link education with industry.

Throughout the academic year, students have taken part in a range of subject-specific workshops designed to showcase the role technology plays across different sectors.
IT students have developed their digital skills through Coding workshops, gaining practical insight into programming and software development.
Business students have explored Marketing workshops, learning how technology influences modern communication and brand engagement.
Meanwhile, PE students have participated in Tech in Sport sessions, discovering how data, performance analysis and innovation are shaping the future of sport.

The curriculum integration model has enabled students to see the real-world applications of their learning while broadening their awareness of the diverse opportunities available within the technology sector.
By tailoring content to specific subject areas, Think Big has helped make career education more accessible and engaging, encouraging students to consider how their interests and strengths could translate into future pathways.

Sapphire Shaw, Careers Co-ordinator at Farnborough Spencer Academy, said: “The Think Big workshops have had a hugely positive impact on our students by broadening their understanding of the opportunities available within the tech industry.
“By integrating the programme into subjects such as IT, Business and PE, students have been able to explore real-world applications of technology and engage with career pathways they may not previously have considered.
“The workshops have been engaging, relevant and inspiring, helping students build confidence and ambition for their futures.”
Think Big continues to support young people across Nottinghamshire by connecting education with industry, helping students build awareness of emerging sectors and the opportunities available to them beyond the classroom.
