Match Reports

A late goal seals it for West Brom.

A rainy setting awaited as we headed to The Forest Recreation Ground for a massive game in the league, West Brom having a few games in hand but a few points behind Forest.

FIRST HALF

The first 10 minutes saw Forest pressing high and West Brom struggling to play, a few long balls from the keeper saw Forest slow down in order to get the balls away. A few got in behind Forest but last ditch tackles held them through. Both teams had big chances to go in front but both keepers made some excellent saves keeping their sides in it. Around half way through the half, a West Brom player was forced to leave the field with a shoulder injury which left him leave the game on a stretcher, we wish the player the best in his recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon. As the half progressed, a lot more turnovers in possession occurred as both teams looked to play over the top, however both defences held well. The half ends 0-0 despite some good chances for both teams.

HALF TIME 0-0

SECOND HALF

The second half started with more of the same, Forest on the front foot and seeing more dangerous situations. This as a result saw more West Brom counter attacks. Forest aimed to play more on the floor in the second half carving their way through the West Brom defence. More chances came where Forests number 10 had a free kick which scraped the top of the bar. It seemed from then on Forest looked exhausted and West Brom ended up having more of the ball. One attack resulted in a free kick right on the edge of the box on the right hand side, both teams prepared as if it were a corner but the free kick taker for West Brom saw an opening at the front post and passed it into the bottom corner, Forest were devastated after having so many good chances to put the game to bed. the last 10 minutes saw lots of Route 1 ball over the top football from forest. However in the end they couldn’t find a clear cut chance.

Forest look to turn the result around on Fridays game against top of the league Wolverhampton Wanderers.
