City Ground Hosts No Room For Racism Workshop for Local Pupils
Pupils from five local primary schools, all participating in the Premier League Primary Stars programme, took part in sessions with the Premier League’s “No Room for Racism” anti-discrimination campaign.
The event was designed to educate the primary school attendees on the objectives of the campaign and provide practical instruction on addressing various forms of discrimination.

Premier League Primary Stars uses the power of football to inspire children to learn, be active, and develop important life skills both in and out of the classroom. Funded by the Premier League Charitable fund and delivered locally by Nottingham Forest Community Trust, the programme supports pupils and teachers across subjects such as PSHE, English, Maths, and PE, helping to embed values like teamwork, fairness, and respect.

The morning schedule consisted of several anti-discrimination workshops tailored to the age group. These sessions focused on enhancing pupils’ understanding of racism and prejudice, identifying discriminatory behaviour, and detailing actionable steps they can take to support anti-racism efforts within their schools and communities. In addition to the educational sessions, pupils participated in a behind-the-scenes tour of the City Ground.
Jordan Ferrer, Schools Manager, said: “Our workshops aim to empower young people with both the knowledge and the confidence to actively confront discrimination.
“We believe that integrating the No Room for Racism message at the City Ground maximises the impact of this essential education.
“Football is something that connects people from all backgrounds, so using it to start conversations about respect and inclusion is really powerful. It’s encouraging to see pupils take those messages back to their schools and apply them in everyday situations.”

The feedback from pupils highlighted the practical nature of the workshop:
“Discrimination is about being mean to anyone for any reason. I’m going to make sure my friends play fair and are kind to everyone in our class.”
“I used to think racism was just about calling names, but now I know it can be hidden in lots of ways.”
The Premier League’s “No Room for Racism” campaign is a comprehensive, league-wide initiative that formalises the commitment of the League and its clubs to combat discrimination and promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of football. The campaign encourages everyone involved in the game — players, staff, supporters, and communities — to take a stand against racism and celebrate diversity both on and off the pitch.
The workshop reflects an ongoing effort to promote inclusion and diversity within the community, utilising the football club’s reach to deliver key anti-discrimination messages to young audiences.
