City Ground hosts open Iftar to mark Ramadan

Over 100 guests were welcomed to the City Ground last week to mark Ramadan, with our annual Open Iftar taking place for the fourth consecutive year.

The event was delivered in collaboration between Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Himmah, Nottingham’s largest independent foodbank.

Guests were welcomed with a video outlining the important work that Himmah does to support those most in need within Nottinghamshire, before hearing short speeches from their CEO Sajid Mohammed and Deputy Director Bilal Hussain.

Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré was in attendance and took part in a Q&A to discuss the importance of faith, maintaining high performance while fasting, and the Club’s upcoming fixtures. B Team players Buba Sanneh, Lamin Sillah, Fuad Smith, and Cherif Yaya also joined Ibrahim at the event.

Following the speeches, guests then walked through the City Ground tunnel to gather for a pitchside call to prayer, before breaking fast together in the Robin Hood Suite.

The Club and Community Trust has a strong, ongoing relationship with Himmah year-round. Through our ‘Home For Christmas’ campaign, we have raised over 5,000kg of essential items over the past two years, which was then distributed to the community across the region.
