Community Trust continues to support local food bank
Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Nottingham Forest Football Club staff have once again supported Himmah, the city’s largest independent food bank, to deliver essential food packages to local schools.
Staff volunteered their time to deliver weekly food parcels and festive goody bags across the city, after these were packed by volunteers from Ideagen, a partner of the Club and Trust.
This effort makes a significant difference to children in need and highlights the commitment of Nottingham organisations to work together for the benefit of local communities.
The partnership with Himmah is part of a long-standing relationship the Community Trust has built with the local charity over the years, supporting the food bank’s vital work in tackling poverty and food insecurity.
Himmah’s mission to provide essential items to families and individuals most in need aligns perfectly with the Trust’s broader aim to create meaningful change in Nottingham’s communities.
Himmah is driven by a commitment to combat food poverty, racial discrimination, and educational disparities. The charity provides hot meals weekly, supplies school uniforms to families with limited resources, and operates a mini-supermarket at their facility in Radford. Through these initiatives, Himmah has become a cornerstone of support for Nottingham residents, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Calum Osborne, Chief Executive Officer of Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “Himmah is an incredible organisation doing vital work to support people in our city who are most in need.
“At Nottingham Forest Community Trust, we are committed to helping them achieve their mission and making a positive impact in our communities.
“It’s fantastic to see so many local organisations, including our partner Ideagen, come together to make a real difference.”
This year’s efforts were bolstered by Ideagen, whose staff volunteered their time to package food items highlights the power of local businesses stepping up to address pressing social challenges.
One of Ideagen’s values is community and reflects the shared sense of responsibility among Nottingham organisations to support those who need it most.
Uzair Hashmi, Fundraising and Volunteering Lead at Himmah, said, “The support from Nottingham Forest Community Trust and their partners is more than just help—it’s a lifeline for families facing impossible choices this winter.
Their dedication, not just during the festive season but throughout the year, shows how powerful partnerships can be when we work together for our community.
This collaboration is a shining example of what can be achieved when organisations join forces to tackle food poverty and inequality. We are incredibly thankful for their compassion and commitment, which reminds struggling families that they are not alone and inspires hope across Nottingham.”
Nottingham Forest’s involvement in Himmah’s work extends beyond logistical support. In the past, Forest first-team players have volunteered their time to pack food parcels, including during the busy Christmas season in 2023.
These hands-on contributions from the club’s players and staff are a testament to the ethos of giving back to the community that lies at the heart of Nottingham Forest.
The run-up to the festive period is Himmah’s busiest time of year, with demand for food parcels and other essentials reaching its peak.
This collaboration between Nottingham Forest Community Trust, Himmah, and Ideagen illustrates how local organisations can come together to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
As families across Nottingham face mounting pressures, initiatives like this serve as a reminder of the strength and resilience found within the city’s community.
