Community Trust Hosts Inaugural Family Fun Day
Earlier this week, Nottingham Forest Community Trust hosted its first-ever Family Fun Day at Haydn Road Cricket Club, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to community engagement. The free event was a resounding success, welcoming 750 people from the local area who enjoyed a day filled with fun, games, and a strong sense of community spirit. This turnout made it one of the Trust’s most successful events to date.

A Day of Fun, Games, and Community Spirit
The Family Fun Day was organised as part of the Trust’s Premier League Kicks programme, specifically under the social action component of the initiative. The programme aims to inspire and connect young people in the community, and this event perfectly embodied that mission.
Through activities like face painting, a bouncy castle, an inflatable penalty shoot-out, DJing, cricket, football, a free raffle, food and refreshments, and even a chance to have a photo taken with the European Cup, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Collaboration at Its Best
The event was a collaborative effort, with PL Kicks participants working together to plan the day’s activities and attractions. Their dedication and creativity truly shone, resulting in a fantastic day that was enjoyed by all who attended.

Karen Swan, Head of Community Engagement, spoke about the success of the day, saying, “We are thrilled with the turnout for our first-ever Family Fun Day. It was wonderful to see so many families from the local area coming together to enjoy a day of fun and community spirit.
“This event is a testament to the power of collaboration and the positive impact our Premier League Kicks programme can have. Seeing our young participants take charge and create such a fantastic day shows just how much potential there is in our community. We couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.”

Academy Players Join in the Fun
Adding to the day’s excitement, Nottingham Forest Academy players Theo Avery, Will Thompson, and Zac Smith took time out of their schedules to join in the festivities and engage with families. Their presence was a highlight for many attendees, particularly the young football fans who were thrilled to meet the rising stars in person.

Building Connections Beyond the Pitch
For Theo, Will, and Zac, participating in the Family Fun Day was more than just an opportunity to meet fans; it was an essential part of their personal development as outlined in their education curriculum at the academy. By engaging in community events like this, these young players are learning the importance of giving back and building meaningful connections beyond the football field. Their involvement embodies the values of teamwork, leadership, and social responsibility that Nottingham Forest Community Trust strives to instil in all its participants.

Looking Ahead
Overall, the Family Fun Day was a remarkable success, highlighting the strength and vibrancy of the local community. Nottingham Forest Community Trust looks forward to building on this success and continuing to bring people together through its various initiatives.
Stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities to engage with the community!
