Community Trust Welcomes Local Families to Annual Family Fun Day
Nottingham Forest Community Trust (NFCT) was delighted to welcome hundreds of attendees to its second annual Family Fun Day, held on Thursday 28th August at Haydn Road Community Cricket Club in Sherwood.
The free-to-attend event has quickly become one of the highlights of the summer in Nottingham. Tickets were in such high demand that all places sold out within two hours of being released in July, demonstrating the appetite from local families for opportunities to come together, celebrate and enjoy time in the heart of the community.

Families enjoyed a wide range of activities across the day, including football games with Nottingham Forest Community Trust coaches, arts and crafts workshops, live DJ entertainment, and a variety of food and drink stalls from local vendors. A raffle added further excitement, with prizes including Nottingham Forest memorabilia, stadium tours and tickets to local activities going home with lucky winners.
One of the most popular attractions was the chance to get up close to the European Cup trophy, a proud symbol of Nottingham Forest’s illustrious heritage.
Children and young fans were particularly thrilled by the involvement of Nottingham Forest Academy players, who spent the afternoon taking part in activities, signing autographs, and chatting with families. Their presence created special moments and lasting memories for the next generation of supporters.

The Trust was proud to use the event as an opportunity not only to entertain, but also to provide meaningful support for families. Working in partnership with a range of local charities and organisations, NFCT curated a Health and Wellbeing Zone that offered information, advice, and signposting to essential services across the city.
Partners from across the city and county also played a vital role in supporting the day. Representatives from E.ON, Bottled Up Blokes, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottingham City Council, Footprints, Himmah and many more were on hand to offer guidance, resources and encouragement to local people. Their presence reinforced the collective commitment across Nottingham to work together in strengthening communities and ensuring families feel supported.
From physical health guidance to crucial mental health support, the zone ensured families left with practical knowledge and connections that could benefit them well beyond the event itself. This collaborative approach reflects NFCT’s mission to make a positive difference in people’s lives both on and off the pitch.
The Family Fun Day was made possible thanks to funding from the Premier League Charitable Fund, delivered locally through Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s Premier League Kicks and Healthy Communities programmes. This investment ensures that events like this remain free and accessible for families, while also promoting healthier, happier and more connected communities across Nottingham.
Reflecting on the occasion, Calum Osborne, CEO of Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “The Family Fun Day is a celebration of unity, positivity, and what can be achieved when our community comes together.
“To see hundreds of community members, many of them Forest fans, enjoying themselves, learning, and connecting with local services was fantastic, and it shows how powerful collaboration can be.
“Working with Nottingham-based charities and organisations allows us to create a day that is both memorable and meaningful. We’re proud to play our part in bringing people together and look forward to building on this success for years to come.”
This year marked only the second edition of the Family Fun Day, following the hugely successful launch in 2024 and NFCT is committed to ensuring the event continues to provide a safe, enjoyable, and supportive space for local families to come together.
The 2025 Family Fun Day once again demonstrated the Trust’s commitment to improving health, wellbeing, and community cohesion across Nottingham. By combining fun activities with access to vital services, the event highlights the important role football, and its community programmes can play in supporting local people.
