Forest Forces Breakfast Club Brings Veterans Together at The City Ground

The latest Forest Forces Breakfast Club recently took place at The City Ground, bringing together 60 veterans from across the community for a morning of good food, friendship, and conversation.

Forest Forces is a programme designed to tackle social isolation in veterans by offering a variety of regular activities and events that encourage social connection, while also supporting physical and mental wellbeing. Veterans from different backgrounds and service experiences had the chance to enjoy breakfast, tea, coffee, and a catch-up with friends both old and new.

Brian Dacunha, Forest Forces Coordinator, said: “It was fantastic to see so many familiar and new faces at this month’s Breakfast Club.

“The sense of camaraderie and support that comes from these gatherings is so important – it reminds us that no one is ever alone, and that the Forest Forces community is always here for each other.”

Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Nottingham Forest Football Club are committed to supporting the Armed Forces community. We currently hold the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, recognising the outstanding transferable skills that ex-service personnel can bring to organisations such as ourselves.

Alongside the Breakfast Club, Forest Forces continues to provide a wide range of activities for veterans to get involved in. Upcoming events include:

  • Monday 15th September: Defibrillator Course at Brendon Lawrence Sports Centre

  • Every Monday until 15th December: Forest Forces Football Social at The Forest Sports Zone, 6pm – 7pm

  • Monday 13th October: Forest Forces Veterans Attenborough Nordic Walk

These activities offer veterans the chance to learn new skills, stay active, and most importantly, connect with others in a welcoming and supportive environment.
