Forest Sports Zone to partially reopen on Monday 13 July

The Forest Sports Zone will partially reopen on Monday 13 July, marking an exciting milestone in the redevelopment of one of Nottingham’s leading community sports facilities.

Following eight weeks of redevelopment, the brand-new top 3G pitch is now ready to welcome players back, while work continues on the next phase of the project ahead of a full reopening later this winter.

Opening hours

The facility will be open:

  • Monday to Friday: 4.00pm to 10.00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 9.00am to 10.00pm

Phase One complete

The first phase of the redevelopment has been completed ahead of schedule.

The transformation includes:

  • A brand-new 3G playing surface
  • New floodlights
  • Fresh line markings
  • New kick-boards made from recycled rubber crumb

The result is an exceptional playing surface that will provide a safer, higher-quality experience for the community for many years to come.

Phase Two underway

Construction work is continuing on the new pavilion extension, with foundation works now underway.

As part of the redevelopment, furniture from the existing building has been donated to local charities, including The Furniture Project and Himmah.

What to expect

As only the top pitch is reopening, visitors will notice the site looks different while redevelopment continues.

The main car park will remain closed. Alternative parking is available near Homemade Café, Forest Recreation Ground, Mansfield Road, Nottingham NG5 2BU. The facility is a short walk away, with clear directional signage in place.

The team is also working to provide access to the top floor toilets and changing rooms while the pavilion building remains closed for construction.

Visitors are reminded that building works will continue during this period. Please remain vigilant and follow guidance from staff, who will be available throughout the site to help customers safely access the new pitch.

Important information for players

Several changes will come into effect when the facility reopens:

  • Correct footwear is mandatory. Only round plastic-studded football boots are permitted. Metal blades, metal studs, astro-dimple trainers and running trainers are not allowed.
  • Forest Sports Zone is now a cashless facility.
  • Staff will be based in a temporary office throughout the redevelopment.
  • Vending machines will not be available, so visitors should bring their own drinks.
  • Pitch prices remain unchanged from before the closure.
  • Existing block bookings will continue as normal.
  • New bookings can be made through the online booking system, subject to availability.
  • The facility’s landline is temporarily unavailable. Customers should contact Laura or email directly if they require assistance.

We look forward to welcoming the community back and seeing the new pitch in action as Forest Sports Zone enters the next stage of its redevelopment.
