Free Health Checks in the Fan Zone this Sunday
Nottingham Forest Community Trust is proud to partner with the NHS in Nottingham to host free, self-service health checks this Sunday. Join us in the Fan Zone before Nottingham Forest takes on Fulham in the Premier League.
Early detection saves lives. This initiative aims to tackle high blood pressure – often called the “silent killer” – before it leads to serious conditions like heart disease, stroke, or kidney disease.

How it Works
The SiSU Health Stations provide a comprehensive health snapshot in less than 5 minutes. The stations measure:
- Vital Signs – Blood pressure, heart rate, and heart age.
- Body Metrics – BMI and body composition.
- Lifestyle Risks – Insights into physical activity and alcohol-related risks.
You’ll receive instant, personalised feedback. If your results suggest a follow-up is needed, the station will advise you to contact your GP or pharmacy. With your consent, it can even link you directly to local support for weight management or quitting smoking.
In 2024, Nottingham saw 130 deaths from stroke. While nearly 6,000 stroke survivors live in our city today, the vast majority of these cases could have been prevented through early detection and simple lifestyle changes.
Colin Eley, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “We believe the health of our community is just as important as the action on the pitch.
Bringing these SiSU Health Stations to the Fan Zone allows us to meet fans where they are, making it easier than ever to get a professional health check without an appointment. We want every Forest fan to stay healthy and be part of the City Ground crowd for years to come.”
Dr. Husein Mawji, GP at the Victoria and Mapperley Practice, said: “High blood pressure usually has no symptoms, which is why it is often referred to as a ‘silent killer’. It can lead to serious illnesses like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and dementia, but once identified there are lots of steps, we can take to address it.
A stroke can happen to anyone, but 9 out of 10 strokes could be avoided through early detection of risk factors and making lifestyle changes.
We hope supporters will take advantage of the chance to take a health check and we’re extremely grateful to Nottingham Forest for giving us the opportunity to reach so many people.”
You can still access free health checks at:
- Boots Store, Victoria Centre (SiSU Station)
- Bramcote Leisure Centre (SiSU Station)
- Community Pharmacies: Most community pharmacies across the City and County offer free NHS blood pressure checks for those aged 40 and over.
