Get Active for Free: Themed ‘Healthy Goals’ Sessions to Start

Whether you are looking to kickstart your fitness journey, find a new hobby, or simply meet new people in a supportive environment, the Healthy Goals programme is back with an exciting new look.

Delivered by the professional coaching team at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, these sessions blend expert training with fun fitness challenges designed to boost both physical health and mental wellbeing.

Supported by the Premier League Foundation and Public Health teams at Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils, every single session remains 100% FREE.

Why Getting Active Matters

According to NHS advice, adults aged 19–64 should aim for a balanced lifestyle to stay healthy. To meet these guidelines, the NHS recommends:

  • Strengthening activities that work all the major muscles on at least two days a week.

  • 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity (like a brisk walk or badminton) or 75 minutes of vigorous activity (like football or Boxfit) per week.

  • Spreading activity evenly over 4 to 5 days a week.

  • Reducing sedentary timedon’t spend too much time sitting, lying down, or not moving.

What’s New?

From high-energy boxing to social sports, there is now a dedicated focus for every day of the week.

Stefan Furgala, Community Engagement Coordinator at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said:

“We are incredibly proud to evolve the Healthy Goals programme to better serve our community. By introducing themed days, we’re providing a clearer structure that helps participants find the specific activity that suits them – whether that’s a high-energy Boxfit session or a social game of badminton.

Our goal is simple: to remove the barriers to physical activity and create a space where everyone in Nottingham feels welcome to improve their wellbeing.”

All of our Healthy Goals sessions are completely FREE. There are no membership fees, no costs, and no barriers.

How to Join?

Getting involved is simple. While most sessions allow you to simply turn up, we recommend booking to secure your spot (especially for Thursday Gym slots).
