Premier League Primary Star coach, Jordan, has been working hard to support teachers at Sutton Road Primary School with their PE delivery.

Now in its 5^th year, Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS), a Premier League-funded programme is designed to use the power of football to engage pupils in primary schools across the country. Nottingham Forest Community Trust coaches have been delivering the programme since its launch and provide classroom support in key subjects such as English and Maths, and PE delivery, with sports ranging from football and cricket to athletics and dance to twenty schools across the city and county.

Jordan has been able to support with continuing professional development (CPD) and has helped deliver in many areas including, PE-based interventions, after-school clubs and PE sports ambassador groups that has allowed the teachers to feel supported – giving them additional confidence.

Ellie Byrne, teacher at Sutton Road said, “All our staff complemented the Primary Stars coaches stating that they felt more supported in leading the sessions and felt like they were able to go to them if they needed further support/had questions.”

Ellie continued, “I felt like we weren’t able to sufficiently support our staff who needed extra CPD. We followed a different scheme of work at the time and that didn’t offer much support in terms of differentiation and staff had to think on their feet a bit. Staff who have not had a lot of PE training found this more challenging.”

Jordan says “I’m delighted to deliver the Primary Stars programme to be able to help the teachers at Sutton Road Primary School to be more confident in not only themselves but within their classroom and PE delivery skills.

Jordan continued, “It also helps the children to see their teachers in a different light outside of the classroom environment and encourages the children to become more engaged and can increase their confidence in the lesson.”
