Musa discovers love for football through cricket.

Nottingham Forest Community Trust works closely with the Premier League to use the power of football and the value of sports participation to help youngsters in some of the most high-need areas. Since 2006, Premier League Kicks has supported hundreds of thousands of young people to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing through free weekly football sessions and educational workshops.

Premier League Kicks

Nottingham Forest Community Trust runs sessions 4 nights a week throughout areas within Nottinghamshire and is open to participants aged 8-16 years old.

Musa is a 12-year-old boy who is extremely passionate about cricket who regularly attends our PL Kicks sessions. He spends most of his free time playing cricket outside of the programme and despite his love for cricket, Musa was interested in developing his football skills and meeting new people. PL Kicks is delivered in partnership with the charitable arm of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club who use their cricket expertise to provide children, including Musa with quality cricket coaching. Initially, Musa was hesitant to join the football sessions. He felt that he might not be good enough to play and worried about not fitting in with the other young people. However, the coaches worked with Musa to encourage him to join the sessions and build his confidence.

Over time, Musa became a regular participant in the football sessions. He began to make new friends and form connections with other young people who share his passion for sports.

Musa said himself, “I enjoy coming to PL Kicks as I get to play cricket, which I love, and improve my football skills at the same time. Coming along to PL Kicks sessions has helped me work better in a team and become more confident in talking to and meeting new people.”

Musa’s involvement in the PL Kicks programme also helped to keep him busy and engaged in positive activities. We hope that Musa continues to develop his love for football alongside his passion for cricket.
