Reaffirming our Commitment to Supporting Children and Families This Summer

Nottingham Forest Community Trust is once again proud to stand alongside local partners in delivering Nottingham City’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme this summer.

Building on a strong foundation of successful delivery, the Trust will lead a series of free, enriching holiday clubs across the city – providing hundreds of children with access to engaging activities, nutritious meals, and a safe, supportive environment during the school break.

Funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by Nottingham City Council, the HAF programme is designed to support families during the holidays, particularly those eligible for free school meals. Children aged 5 to 16 are invited to take part in a diverse mix of activities focused on sport, creativity, personal development, and healthy living.

Throughout 2024, Nottingham Forest Community Trust engaged 5,634 children through 132 sessions across multiple venues, delivering over 528 hours of programming. Each session was built around four key pillars: healthy eating, physical activity, creativity, and mental wellbeing. The impact extends far beyond fun and games with the programme helping to reduce social isolation, promote healthier lifestyles, and support children to build resilience, confidence, and positive relationships.

Calum Osborne, CEO of Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “The HAF programme is a vital part of our work to support young people and families across the city.

“Holiday periods can be incredibly tough for many, especially when it comes to accessing food, structure, and safe spaces. We’re proud to be delivering programmes that not only meet immediate needs but also help children grow in confidence, stay active, and feel connected to their community.”

By operating in areas of greatest need and working closely with schools and local partners, the Trust ensures the support reaches those who benefit the most.

Each day includes a balance of physical activity, creative workshops, and a hot, nutritious meal, helping to keep children active, well-fed, and emotionally supported throughout the summer.

Since launching in 2021, the HAF programme has made a significant contribution to tackling holiday hunger, improving wellbeing, and giving children across Nottingham something to look forward to when school is out.
