Solidarity Fast 2025: A Night of Unity at The City Ground

Nottingham Forest Community Trust hosted a memorable Open Iftar at the City Ground, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to share in an evening of unity, reflection, and support for those in need.

The event, held in partnership with Himmah, Nottingham’s largest independent food bank and social support charity, saw members of the community come together to break fast in a spirit of togetherness and support of Ramadan.

One of Nottingham’s most iconic landmarks, the Reds’ home provided a fitting setting for this special occasion, reinforcing Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s commitment to supporting and uplifting local communities.

The atmosphere was one of warmth and solidarity, as people of all faiths and backgrounds gathered to share a meal and reflect on the significance of Ramadan and the power of community-driven initiatives.

Reflecting on the event’s impact, Calum Osborne, CEO of Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said: “The Solidarity Fast and Open Iftar at the home of Nottingham Forest was a truly special evening, bringing together people from all walks of life in unity and compassion.

It was incredible to see the community come together – many of whom are Forest fans – eat in the Peter Taylor stand, share experiences, and reaffirm our collective commitment to tackling food poverty and supporting community cohesion.

“This is the third time we have hosted an Open Iftar here, and each year, it grows in significance – demonstrating the power of football and community in making a real difference.”

Uzair Hashmi, Fundraising & Volunteer Lead at Himmah added: “The Solidarity Fast and Open Iftar at the City Ground is a powerful demonstration of what can be achieved when communities, organisations, and football clubs come together for a shared purpose.

“We are incredibly grateful to have held this event once again with Nottingham Forest and Nottingham Forest Community Trust, building on our strong partnership that has already made a real impact – including a hugely successful multi-bank collection providing essential food and resources to those in need over the Christmas period.

“To see people from all backgrounds unite in fasting, share stories, and break bread in such an iconic setting was truly inspiring.

“This collaboration is more than just a single event; it’s part of an ongoing movement that highlights the power of football and community in tackling food poverty and build meaningful change.”

He continued: “It’s an incredible and truly spiritual event to be a part of. I’m blown away by the sense of community and solidarity it builds.

“Seeing communities come together, engaging in community cohesion, celebrating Ramadan, and supporting the amazing work of the Himmah charity is truly inspiring.”
