A new chapter for the Forest Sports Zone

Nottingham’s most-used community sports facility is about to get even better.

A £1.9 million investment is transforming the Forest Sports Zone at the Forest Recreation Ground, delivering world-class pitches, upgraded facilities and a brand new community hub, right in the heart of Nottingham.

The vision

Built for Nottingham. Designed for everyone.

The Forest Sports Zone has been part of this city’s sporting fabric since 2015. Welcoming over 2,000 users every week, it has grown into one of the most-used sports facilities in the UK – serving local clubs, schools, community groups and residents seven days a week.

This redevelopment is about making something great even better. New surfaces. Better lighting. A bigger, more welcoming home for the community that uses it every day.

What’s changing?

The investment will deliver a complete transformation of the facility, including:

Two brand new all-weather pitches:

The existing 3G pitch will receive a completely new playing surface, upgraded infill and improved LED floodlighting. The adjacent sand-based pitch will be fully rebuilt and upgraded to a 3G surface- creating two high-quality, year-round training and match environments side by side.

A new community building:

The existing changing room building will be extended with a new two-storey entrance, expanded office space and a dedicated community area. A more welcoming, more functional space for everyone who visits the site.

Better access for everyone:

From grassroots clubs and local schools to casual players and community groups, the upgraded facility will make it easier for more people to access high-quality sport, more often.

The impact

Sport has the power to change lives.

The Forest Sports Zone sits at the centre of that in Nottingham — and this investment ensures it stays there.

The redevelopment will increase participation, improve the experience for players and visitors, and strengthen the role the site plays across the city. It builds on a decade of community sport delivered by Nottingham Forest Community Trust, and sets the site up for the next chapter.

This is also a place with deep roots as the Forest Recreation Ground is the original home of Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Investing here means investing in something that belongs to this city.
