Think Big
Thinking beyond mainstream
Since its launch in January 2022, the Think Big programme, a partnership between Nottingham Forest and Ideagen, has made a significant impact on 53 schools and academies. This innovative initiative aims to inspire young people to think big about their future employment in the tech industry. While targeting mainstream schools and academies, the Think Big programme also extends its reach to special educational needs (SEN) schools and alternative provision (AP) schools, ensuring inclusivity and empowering all students to thrive.

Inspiring a Passion for Tech
At the core of the Think Big programme is the goal to inspire young people to be excited about technology. By showcasing the possibilities and opportunities in the tech industry, the programme aims to motivate students to think big and envision themselves as future leaders in this field. Through engaging workshops, masterclasses, ambassador sessions, and match day activities, students are exposed to the world of technology in a fun and interactive way.

Inclusivity and Tailored Support
The Think Big programme recognises that every child is unique and possesses untapped talents, irrespective of their learning abilities or school environment. To ensure inclusivity, the programme actively engages with special educational needs schools and alternative provision schools. It provides tailored support, specialised activities, and accessible resources that empower students in these schools to thrive and reach their full potential.

Empowering Special Educational Needs Schools
For students in special educational needs schools, the Think Big programme goes beyond traditional approaches. It understands the diverse needs of these students and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where they can flourish. Through individualised support, specialised activities, and accessible resources, the programme empowers students with diverse learning abilities to overcome challenges, boost their confidence, and pursue their aspirations.

Catering to Alternative Provision Schools
Alternative provision schools cater to students who may have faced difficulties in mainstream education. The Think Big programme recognises the potential in these students and provides them with alternative pathways to success. By tailoring activities to their unique needs and circumstances, the programme helps re-engage disengaged learners, rebuild self-esteem, and create a sense of belonging. Through mentorship and exposure to various vocational opportunities, the Think Big programme equips alternative provision school students with the skills necessary to succeed beyond their education.

Expanding Reach and Impact
Think Big has already engaged with 12 SEN schools and 3 AP schools across Nottinghamshire, ensuring that all schools can benefit from its inclusive approach. By tailoring content, themes, and activities to suit the different educational environments, Think Big inspires students from various backgrounds to explore the world of technology and envision themselves as future tech enthusiasts and professionals.
Speaking about the programme, Mr Lovett from Ash Lea School said, “Our pupils had a fantastic time and were really engaged in the activity that you put together. The end-product was all that we had hoped for.”
He continued, “You engaged with us and our pupils and delivered something that was aspirational but truly inclusive for all of our young people. You have gone the extra mile to understand our pupils and school and deliver an activity that I hope remains true to the Think Big ideals but delivered it in a way that was accessible to our pupils.”
