TRIUMPHANT IN TRANMERE

A cup clash on the shores of the Mersey River awaits the Reds. Despite being a group game, Nottingham Forest face a do-or-die scenario. Forest will be looking for an improved performance to restart the season after the winter break.

KICK OFF

Following a possession turnover by Nottingham Forest, a lengthy pass initiates a counterattack from the Rovers. Their no.9 tries a cross/shot that hits the crossbar, providing an early jolt to the stand-in Forest goalkeeper, due to a red card for our goalkeeper in our previous match.

Our no.14 delivers a precise through pass, locating the no.9, who skilfully advances into the opponent’s box and is subsequently brought down. The referee, with a clear view of the challenge awards a penalty in favour of the Reds.

Our no.9 who won the penalty decides to step up and take the spot kick. He manages good connection but is to no avail as the Tranmere keeper follows the ball wonderfully and keeps it out.

No break of the deadlock before half time.

Tranmere Rovers 0 – 0 Nottingham Forest

HALF TIME

Tranmere encountered a couple of scoring chances nullified by offside calls, while Forest had to make a substitution early in the second half due to an injury.

The no.9 from Nottingham Forest delivered a poorly executed corner that eluded both the front post runner and the goalkeeper. Despite navigating through the crowd without another touch, it resulted in a forgettable goal for the no.9. Redemption after the penalty miss and a deadlock breaker 1-0.

Tranmere Rovers 0 – 1 Nottingham Forest

The Forest front line showcased sharp link up play near the Rovers box, ultimately leading to another goal for the no.9, who doubled Forest’s lead with a forceful finish that beat the goalkeeper.

Tranmere Rovers 0 – 2 Nottingham Forest

After a couple of scares down the other end for Forest the game is put to bed late on. A counterattack is launched ending with a delightful cross to an incisive finish to finish off the game. A hattrick for our no.9.

Tranmere Rovers 0 – 3 Nottingham Forest

A brilliant team performance from the whole Forest team, including brave goalkeeping from the stand-in keeper who managed to keep a clean sheet and excessive pressure throughout the game. Immense team spirit that the Reds will be looking to carry into the next round of the cup as they progress to the Round of 32.
