Trust Launches New Football Programme

Local families joined us at the Portland Centre on Saturday morning for the launch of Football Together, a brand new family-focused walking football session brought to the community by Nottingham Forest Community Trust in partnership with Notts County Foundation.

Designed as a participation-based session, Football Together encourages families of all backgrounds, abilities, and generations to get active and enjoy the game side-by-side.

Held every Saturday from 10am to 12pm, the sessions are free to attend and aim to create a supportive, fun environment where families can connect through a shared love of the game, regardless of experience or fitness level.

The sessions are delivered as part of the Trust’s Health & Wellbeing offer, which aims to help residents across Nottinghamshire become more active by providing accessible, community-based activities that promote physical fitness, social connection, and healthier lifestyles.

Colin Eley, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Nottingham Forest Community Trust said: “It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout for our first session.

“Walking football is a brilliant way to break down barriers to participation. Football Together is all about encouraging families to move more, laugh more, and spend time together in a healthy, positive setting. It’s about togetherness, not competition.”

The initiative is proudly funded by the National Lottery, which helps support projects that improve community wellbeing and bring people closer through sport and social activity.
