Vacancy: Safeguarding Manager
Nottingham Forest Community Trust (NFCT) is looking for a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Manager to lead our commitment to safety and wellbeing. We are seeking a proactive professional to step into the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), taking operational responsibility for safeguarding across all Trust activities.
This vital role ensures that every child, young person, and adult at risk who engages with our programmes does so in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring our arrangements remain robust, concerns are addressed with urgency, and best practices are embedded in line with the Premier League Foundation Capability Code of Practice (CCOP).
The Role at a Glance
Salary: £32,000 – £35,000
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Location: Nottingham (including activity at Nottingham Forest FC)
Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (with professional alignment to NFFC’s Head of Safeguarding)
Core Purpose
The Safeguarding Manager serves as the heartbeat of our safety culture. Beyond case management, the role involves embedding a high standard of practice across the organisation and working in close professional alignment with Nottingham Forest Football Club to ensure a unified approach to safeguarding.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Leadership & Case Management: Acting as the primary point of contact for all safeguarding concerns and maintaining meticulous records via MyConcern.
Policy & Compliance: Keeping standards high by updating policies in line with national legislation and leading quality assurance audits.
Culture & Training: Empowering our workforce by delivering CPD and training, ensuring that safeguarding is understood as “everyone’s responsibility.”
Strategic Governance: Providing vital updates to the Board and working alongside the People Team to ensure safer recruitment practices (KCSIE).
Matchday & Academy Support: Extending expertise to the wider Club agenda, supporting matchday safety and Academy overlaps.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a resilient, calm, and highly organised professional who thrives in complex environments.
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience in a safeguarding role with deep knowledge of child and adult protection.
A relevant degree or professional qualification in safeguarding/welfare.
Experience managing allegations and working within multi-agency frameworks.
Proficiency in safeguarding software (e.g., MyConcern).
A solutions-focused mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
