Villa defeat Forest

A clear but cold day at The Forest Sport zone saw Nottingham Forest’s education team welcome Aston Villa for a fixture that could’ve seen Forest move further up the table in hopes of winning the league. Forest look to open the new year with a win against Villa.

FIRST HALF

The first half saw Villa pressing high and forcing mistakes out of the Forest defence. Within 10 minutes, Villa went 1 up with a screamer of a left foot sending the ball right into the top left corner.

Shortly after, Forest struggled to play the ball into good positions, resulting in Villa finding a second with a ball played through the middle and leaving the striker one-on-one with the keeper, slotting it into the bottom right corner.

A short spell saw Forest try to grab one back and a few chances saw Forest come close. However, a swift counterattack resulted in a controversial penalty given to Villa. The penalty was nearly saved by the keeper, but it rolled behind the line.

Nottingham Forest 0-3 Aston Villa

Forest continued to struggle with Villa’s press and ended up playing some long balls to try and get in behind the Villa defence. The ball fell into number 14 who played a luscious ball into Forests number 10 who smashed it home to give The Reds some hope.

Forest started to play with more confidence out from the back with Villa holding back the press slightly. However, a gift for villa as a pass was intercepted across the back line in which the Villa striker chipped it over the keeper and into the back of the net.

HALF TIME

The reds go into half time disappointed with the goals conceded but knowing they can get in behind the Villa defence.

SECOND HALF

Forest had the wind in their favour as they looked for an early goal to bite back at Aston Villa. A few substitutes enter the field for both teams. With Villa having more of the ball, this saw Forest playing deeper and more defensively. Forest needed to push forward which saw a great ball in behind for a simple finish for the Villa player.

Nottingham Forest 1-5 Aston Villa

The rest of the half saw Forest not only try to push forward but also limit any more damage. A couple more substitutes for injured players saw a new wing back and midfielder enter the pitch in the hopes of trying to get the best out of a bad situation. Forest held strong for the rest of the game and there were a few chances both ways. A few signs of frustration saw some free kicks come their way. The game finished and both teams shook hands. Forest went in disappointed, but they move on to their next game in the league.
