We’re Proud to Support The FA’s Play Safe Weekend
On 27–28 September, Nottingham Forest Community Trust will be joining the nationwide Play Safe Weekend, part of The FA’s year-round campaign that champions the importance of safeguarding in football.
This year’s theme is about empowering young people by encouraging adults to create open conversations, ask questions, and actively listen. Because when children feel heard, they feel safe.
Everyone. Everywhere. Every Time.

What is Play Safe?
Play Safe is The FA’s national safeguarding campaign, designed to ensure football at every level is a safe, enjoyable and inclusive game. It reminds clubs, leagues, coaches, parents, and players that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility – on and off the pitch.
This year’s focus is clear:
- Give young people a voice
- Encourage small but meaningful conversations
- Build trust through listening
Because sometimes, the smallest conversations have the biggest impact.
How You Can Play Your Part
Safeguarding means creating safe environments and preventing children from experiencing harm or abuse. Every young person – whether a player, referee, or supporter – has the right to enjoy football in a safe and supportive environment.
Parents and carers can take a proactive step by completing the free FA Safeguarding Awareness for Parents & Carers Course, which explains how football puts children at the centre of everything it does.

Safeguarding at Nottingham Forest Community Trust
At Nottingham Forest Community Trust, we believe safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. That’s why we’ve built strong policies and procedures to protect children and vulnerable adults across all our programmes.
Here’s how we put safeguarding into practice:
- Comprehensive Safeguarding Policy – setting out our commitment to protecting every participant.
- Code of Conduct – clear expectations for staff, volunteers, and coaches to work ethically and responsibly.
- Structured Reporting Process – ensuring any concerns are dealt with quickly, appropriately, and effectively.
- Inclusive Environment – prioritising the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all who engage with us.
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to ensuring football remains safe, fun, and open to everyone.
