Our Dementia Choir spread festive cheer with local veterans
On the morning of 13th December, Nottingham Forest Community Trust hosted a heartwarming Christmas Club breakfast at the City Ground bringing together over 70 veterans from Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands.
The annual Festive function offers a chance for camaraderie, warmth, and Christmas cheer for former servicemen and women, building a strong sense of community through sharing experiences of military service.

Throughout the year, Nottingham Forest Community Trust runs a variety of initiatives as part of its Forest Forces programme, tailored to address the unique needs of local veterans, ensuring they remain connected and supported in civilian life.
Events like this Christmas breakfast morning reflect the Trust’s dedication supporting veterans, while creating a space where they can continue to build lasting bonds and strengthen their community ties.

Attendees were treated to a special Christmas performance by Our Dementia Choir, whose renditions of Christmas classics added an extra layer of joy to the occasion.
Our Dementia Choir, spearheaded by Vicky McClure, is an inspiring group formed to demonstrate the transformative power of music for those living with dementia.
By coming together to sing, participants not only engage their minds but also build meaningful social connections.
The choir embodies the spirit of community and shared purpose, creating a space for creativity and togetherness.
Their performance at the breakfast served as a poignant reminder of the positive impact of music on mental and emotional wellbeing.

The Christmas Club breakfast was organised as part of the Forest Forces programme, a key initiative by Nottingham Forest Community Trust.
The programme offers a range of activities designed to support veterans’ mental and physical health, combat social isolation, and provide meaningful opportunities to give back through community initiatives.
From regular social gatherings to wellness and fitness sessions, Forest Forces aims to create a positive, supportive environment for veterans.
