Forest Fans Take Action for Mental Health Awareness Week
Nottingham Forest Community Trust was delighted to welcome members of the local community to The City Ground on Wednesday evening for our latest Wellbeing Walk.
The event took place during Mental Health Awareness Week, a national movement that this year focuses heavily on the theme of ‘Action.’ It encourages individuals, communities, and organisations to move beyond just talking about mental health, and to take tangible, proactive steps toward supporting wellness. Our walk was designed to do exactly that – providing a physical space for people to take action for their own health and support those around them.
Setting off from the Trentside Lounge, the group undertook a scenic 5km route along the River Trent and the Embankment, before returning to the City Ground for a truly memorable finale – an exclusive evening lap of the pitch.

Beyond the physical benefits of the stroll, the heart of the event was focused on connection. Throughout the evening, participants were actively signposted to local support networks and the Trust’s Tricky to Talk initiative, which aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage open, honest conversations.
Attendees were pointed towards the Trust’s dedicated wellbeing toolkits, which offer practical resources, guidance, and actionable advice on managing anxiety, stress, and overall mental wellbeing.
Colin Eley, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Nottingham Forest Community Trust, said:
“It was fantastic to see so many people from across the community coming together for our Wellbeing Walk. Events like this highlight the unique power of the club to bring people together.
By taking the conversation out onto the Embankment and pitchside during Mental Health Awareness Week, we wanted to remind everyone that they are part of a support system. Through Tricky to Talk, our goal is to ensure nobody feels they have to face life’s challenges in isolation.”
The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for attendees to share experiences, meet new friends, and enjoy the sunset over the stadium.
One participant shared what the evening meant to him:
“Sometimes it’s hard to admit when you need a bit of a lift, but the atmosphere tonight was so welcoming. Learning more about Tricky to Talk and getting access to the toolkits for stress and anxiety is massive. Knowing that this kind of practical support is right here on our doorstep through the club is incredible. It wasn’t just a walk; it felt like a community looking out for each other.”
