Following a successful first year, the CIMSPA-accredited Level 2 and Level 3 programme returns to provide young people with the opportunity to gain industry-recognised qualifications and hands-on coaching experience within schools and communities across Nottinghamshire.

Delivered at West Nottinghamshire College and the Forest Sports Zone in Nottingham, learners will work alongside experienced practitioners while developing their understanding of coaching, leadership, safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing.

Students will gain real-world experience through placements in primary schools, community settings, with a minimum of 40 hours of work placement each year. There will also be opportunities to support activities linked to Nottingham Forest matchdays and fan zone events.

The programme focuses on preparing learners for employment by combining academic study with practical application in real environments. Coaching skills will be assessed throughout the course to support professional development and ensure students are ready for industry progression.

Topics studied include:

→ Sports Leaders Level 2 and Level 3

→ Coaching in schools and the community

→ Disability coaching

→ Safeguarding

→ First aid and mental health first aid

→ Developing and assisting junior coaches

→ Additional National Governing Body qualifications

→ Community engagement and inclusive delivery

Students will also develop key employability skills including communication, teamwork, leadership and time management.

The course is endorsed by CIMSPA, helping learners progress into employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further training within the sport and physical activity sector.
