Community Trust Supports Premier League’s ‘Together Against Suicide’ on World Suicide Prevention Day
Nottingham Forest Community Trust is proud to support the Premier League’s new initiative, Together Against Suicide, launched on Wednesday 10 September to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.
Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK takes their own life. Football has the power to bring people together, spark conversation, and offer support. Through Together Against Suicide, the Premier League and Nottingham Forest Community Trust aim to reduce the stigma around suicide and provide fans with the guidance and resources they need.
The initiative has been co-designed with suicide prevention experts and in partnership with Samaritans, who offer free, confidential, 24/7 support via 116 123. Fans and community members can also access an online support hub at premierleague.com/togetheragainstsuicide, providing practical tools and advice for anyone struggling or supporting someone in crisis.
Together Against Suicide focuses on three key goals:
→Directing fans experiencing suicidal thoughts to the right support and encouraging that vital first conversation.
→Promoting practical tools to help interrupt negative thought spirals.
→Nurturing a culture of connection, care, and early intervention within football communities.
Every one of us can play a part.
One in four people has experienced suicidal thoughts, and a simple conversation can make a life-changing difference.
At Nottingham Forest Community Trust, we are committed to these goals through our Tricky to Talk programme. Tricky to Talk empowers young people and community members to break the stigma around mental health, develop the confidence to have honest conversations, and recognise the early signs of someone in distress. Delivered in locally, the programme ensures that support is accessible to all, equipping participants with the skills to reach out and guide others toward help.
If you or someone you know is struggling, we encourage you to reach out and start the conversation. Support is available, and together, we can make a difference.
