Significant progress continues to be made on the redevelopment of the Forest Sports Zone, with work advancing across both the playing surfaces and wider site improvements.

Since closing in May, Phase One of the project has been completed ahead of schedule, while work on the next stage of the redevelopment is now well underway.

We are continuing to work closely with our contractors to safely complete the remaining works and bring the facility back into use as soon as possible.

Phase One completed ahead of schedule

The first phase of the redevelopment has delivered a major transformation to the top pitch.

Works completed include:

→ A fully relaid 3G playing surface

→ New floodlights

→ New line markings

→ New kickboards made using recycled rubber crumb

→ Testing of the new pitch, with final sign-off now pending

The completion of the top pitch ahead of schedule marks a significant milestone in the redevelopment project.

Phase Two underway

→ Attention has now turned to the next phase of the redevelopment.

→ Construction of the new pavilion extension is progressing, with foundation piles being installed and filled with concrete to support the new structure.

→ Internal clearance works have also begun, with furniture donated to The Furniture Project and further donations planned to Himmah as part of the site’s refurbishment.

What happens next?

Our priority remains working with contractors to complete the remaining works safely so the facility can reopen as soon as possible.

Once the pitch is ready for use, we’ll share full details with customers, including access arrangements and the facilities that will be available.

We know many customers are also keen to find out more about the new bottom pitch. Plans for how this facility will operate are currently being finalised, and further information will be shared as soon as it becomes available.
